A diet plan for athlete contains more of calories due to the strenuous activities like swimming, jogging and running etc. A diet plan for athletes includes proper number of calories. A calorie is a measure of energy and it provides the body with the fuel it needs for daily living and training. An athlete should take a balanced diet which has adequate amount of calories ranging from 3000 – 3500 calories per day depending upon age, gender. To keep energy person who is exercising should have good source of carbohydrates.Protein intake should be ranging from 1.2 gram per kg body weight to 1.5 gram per kg body weight to maintain the wear and tear of the tissues.
