Lie down
Lie flat on the floor with your right hand positioned behind your head. Use your left fingers to stroke the right breast circularly and repeat for the other.
Follow a Pattern
Use your fingers to create patterns around the breasts, such as circles, lines or wedges of movement that will cover all area, including the collarbone and armpit.
Check Armpit
While sitting or standing, move your hands over your armpit because breast tissue extends into this space.
Check Nipples
Each nipple must be gently pressed to determine if discharge or any fluid is coming out from it.
Look in the Mirror
Stand before a mirror with arms at the sides, raised overhead, as well as hands on hips; look for changes in skin texture or shape.
Notice Changes
Look out for dimples, puckers, indentations or orange peel skin and consult your doctor immediately if you notice anything out of place.
How Often It Should Be Performed?
As per health experts, self breast examination must be performed at least once in a month.
