Why Almond Kajal?

Almond kajal or almond surma (kan mai), is a natural and traditional remedy used in Indian households. It is made from almonds to line the eyes. It is rich in antioxidants that help protect the skin around the eyes.

Ingredients

Two tablespoons of ghee, one teaspoon of almond oil, one teaspoon of castor oil, a steel plate, a cotton wick, 5-7 almonds, one small diya and a clean container.

Burn almonds

Fill the diya with ghee and place your cotton wick in it. Light the diya and cover it with a plate. Put almonds on the fork and burn them on this for 5-10 minutes.

Scrape kajal

Let it cool down to room temperature and gently scrape the kajal from the steel plate and burnt almond.

Combine oils

Take a bowl and add ghee, almond oil, and castor oil. Stir it well with a stick to combine the oils together.

Combine kajal

Now, add scraped kajal with ghee and oil mix to a container. Stir it well to combine together and make a smooth kajal. Store it in a clean, airtight container.

How to apply?

Take a cotton swab and dip it in the kajal mixture. Gently apply it around your baby eyes. It is rich in vitamins A and E, which improve eyesight.
