Red gulal from hibiscus
Take fresh hibiscus flowers and sundry them for 3-4 days. Now, grind the hibiscus flowers with rose water into a fine powder. Strin the powder to remove coarse particles.
Yellow gulal from marigold
Boil fresh marigold flowers with a pinch of turmeric and cornflour. Sundry this for one hour. You can also grind dried marigold flowers with gram flour and turmeric.
Blue gulal from aparajita flowers
For deep blue colour, take the aparajita flowers (butterfly pea) and sun dry for 3-4 days. Grind the flowers into a fine powder.
Pink gulal from roses
Take fresh or dried rose petals and soak them in water for 1-2 hours. Now, take this and grind it with corn flour into a fine paste. Sun dry the powder and filter through a sieve for smooth gulal.
Orange colour from tesu flowers
Take dried orange peels and tesu flowers and grind them into a fine powder. Now, add corn flour and turmeric to this and mix it well. Filter the gulal through a sieve to remove coarse particles.
Green colour from mint leaves
Grind mint and spinach leaves into a fine powder and add rice flour to it. Strain the mixture through a sieve to get a fine powder.
