The condition in which the structure of your tooth deteriorates or dissolves away is known as root resorption. It can happen due to various reasons, including dental or physical injury. Here are some visible signs of a damaged tooth root.

Gum Inflammation

One of the signs that the roots of your teeth are damaged is the health of your gums. Inflamed gums can be one sign; however, this is not absolute.

Tooth Pain

Root resorption affects your nerves, leading to tooth pain. This pain can sometimes be severe and excruciating.

Teeth Loss

In severe root resorption, the tooth becomes vulnerable and weakens further as you keep biting or chewing on those teeth. As a result, these teeth fall from their position.

Tooth Fracture

Resorption makes your teeth more fragile and more prone to cracking and rotting. These teeth are more prone to chipping and fracture because of the reduction in density deep inside the tooth.

Loose Tooth

Teeth become loose due to tooth resorption. This occurs as a result of the teeth's supporting tissues becoming looser, creating a weaker foundation.

Your dentist must take the appropriate action to treat root damage. Therefore, it is important to see your dentist for a diagnostic and if you have resorption or another oral health disease if you have unexplained tooth discomfort.
