Kajal, also known as 'Kohl', is the most loved eye make-up. In India, people use kajal to protect their children from evil eyes. Today, we bring you the easiest and safest way to make kajal at home. Tap to learn!

BASIC INGREDIENTS

Gather the required ingredients, namely pure ghee, a small dish or a heat-resistant plate or container, cotton wicks or cotton roll.

PREPARE THE CONTAINER

Take the small, heat-resistant spoon or the small silver plate. Ensure it is clean and dry.

PREPARE THE WICK

Get a strip of cotton thread that is approximately two to three inches long. Ensure there is no dirt or any other substance on it.

SOAK AND WICK

Dip one end of the cotton wick in pure ghee until it is submerged properly. Place the soaked end of the wick in the container’s centre.

LET IT BURN

Use a matchstick or lighter to light the free end of the wick and allow it to burn. This will be soot when it burns itself.

COLLECT THE SOOT

To preserve the burnt wick from soot formation, hold a clean surface like a plate or inverted spoon over it while collecting the soot.

REPEAT IF NEEDED

The amount of dark kajal that you want is dependent on how many times you have to go through the process of acquiring soot particles.

COOL AND STORE

Wait for it to dry or cool down. Keep it in a smaller container, but make sure that it is clean and dry, like your kajal container or some other airtight container.

CONCLUSION

Try this step-by-step, easy recipe to make homemade ghee kajal. Always do a patch test before applying anything directly to your eyes.
