Ingredients for bonda
One cup urad dal, two tablespoons coconut, 1-2 green chilli, one chopped ginger, one spring curry leaves, two tablespoons of coriander leaves, half a teaspoon of pepper, salt to taste and oil for frying.
Ingredients for soup
2-3 green chillies, a pinch of hing (asafoetida), two chopped tomatoes and onion, half a cup of moong dal, two teaspoons of coconut, one chopped ginger, salt to taste, two tablespoons of coriander leaves, one tablespoon lemon juice, a tablespoon of (cumin seeds, mustard seeds),, turmeric powder, ghee, and four cups of water.
Prepare bondas
Wash and soak urad dal overnight, and blend it well with the spices into a smooth paste. Whisk this well and deep fry small bondas.
Cook moong dal
Take soaked moong dal and pressure cook it with tomatoes, onions, green chilli, ginger and turmeric.
Prepare tempering
Heat ghee in a small pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, green chilli, and curry leaves.
Add tempering and water
Now, add the prepared tempering to the soup and pour in the water. Cook it again for 10 minutes.
Garnish and Serve
Pour the prepared soup into a deep bowl and two bondas into it. Garnish with chopped onion and coriander leaves on top and serve it hot.
