Benefits of imli sharbat in summer
Imli is loaded with tartaric acid and antioxidants, which help metabolism. It is also rich in vitamin C, which helps prevent dehydration. It also detoxifies the skin, which prevents acne breakouts.
Ingredients
One cup of tamarind (imli), a teaspoon of coriander leaves, half a teaspoon of roasted cumin powder (jeera), half a teaspoon of red chilli powder, 1-2 tablespoons of sugar or jaggery, black salt as per taste, 1-2 glasses of water and crushed ice.
Soak tamarind
Soak tamarind pulp in a cup of warm water overnight or leave it overnight. This will soften the imli outer layer.
Strain the pulp
Use a meshcloth or sieve to separate the softened pulp from the liquid. Remove the seeds and press the pulp.
Add water and jaggery
Now, add the extracted tamarind pulp to a container. Add tamarind pulp with 2-3 glasses of water and jaggery powder. Cook it for 10 minutes.
Add spices
Strain the water and add cumin powder and red chilli powder to this. Stir it well to combine.
Season and serve
Season the tamarind or imli sharbat with crushed coriander leaves and stir it well. Add crushed ice and serve it chilled.
