Ingredients
One cup/250 grams of idli batter, one medium-sized or two small beetroot, oil for greasing.
Prepare Beetroot
Peel and finely grate, or blend raw beetroot until it becomes pureed to facilitate easier mixing with the batter.
Mix with Batter
Add the beetroot puree to the idli batter, and mix well until the batter is brightly colourful.
Rest the Batter
Allow the batter to rest for 10-15 minutes after mixing so that the flavours can blend and the batter is ready for steaming.
Grease Idli Molds
You have to lightly grease the idli plates with some oil to aid in the batter release after steaming.
Steam the Idlis
Now, carefully pour the batter into the greased idli moulds before steaming for 10-12 minutes until fluffy and soft.
Serve and Enjoy
Afterwards, place the idlis and allow the idlis to cool slightly before enjoying it warm with chutney or sambar.
