Coconut chutney is a staple dish that is paired with dosas and idlis. It is prepared by combinig grated coconut, chillies, and spices. Tap to read the recipe!
Ingredients
One cup of grated coconut, 2-3 dried red chillies, one small onion, 1-2 cloves garlic, half a teaspoon cumin seeds, half a teaspoon mustard seeds, salt to taste, two tablespoons coconut oil, half a teaspoon of dal (chana dal and urad dal), and 6-8 curry leaves.
Saute lentils
Take a pan and heat sesame oil in it. Add urad dal, chana dal, and onions. Saute them on a low heat until golden brown.
Grind chutney
Take a grinder and add ginger, chana dal, urad dal, half a cup of water, and grated coconut. Grind it into a smooth, creamy paste.
Prepare to temper
Heat coconut oil in a pan; add mustard seeds and curry leaves Heat them until they start to sputter.
Serve
Add the prepared tempering to the chutney and mix it well. Serve the chutney as a side with dosa, idli, and uttapam.
