Ingredients
Two sticks of tamarind (imli), one cup of flax seeds, 7-8 dry red chillies, three teaspoons of oil, three teaspoons of cumin seeds, salt as required, water as required, 4-5 garlic cloves, a pinch of hing (asafoetida), two tablespoons of chana and urad dal, jaggery powder, and 3-4 leaves of coriander leaves.
Roast flaxseeds
Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan and add flaxseed, chana dal, and urad dal. Roast it for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
Prepare tempering
Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, curry leaves, garlic cloves, and dry red chillies. Cook it until it starts to crackle.
Grind ingredients
Let the mixture cool down to room temperature and add it to the mixer. Add tamarind, jaggery, and salt and grind it into a fine powder.
Add water
Now, add water to the coarse powder. Grind it again into a smooth consistency. Add salt according to taste.
Garnish and serve
Garnish the chutney with fresh coriander leaves on top. Pair it with idli or dosa or serve it with rice.
