Ingredients
One cup of water, one cup of sugar, half a bunch of fennel fronds.
Prep and Combine
Wash and chop the half bunch of fronds. Take saucepan and place all these roughly chopped fennel fronds along with one cup water and one cup sugar for flavour infusion.
Dissolve and Simmer
Let it run on medium heat while stirring gently until all of the sugar dissolves. Now, allow to simmer softly for 15-20 minutes until the essence of fennel is infused.
Strain and Cool
Take the mix away from the stove, allow it to cool slightly. Now, strain the syrup through a fine sieve or a cheesecloth into a clean container, discarding the solid.
Chill for Storage
Once filtered, allow the fennel syrup to cool to room temperature, while tightly sealing it in a jar or bottle for storage in the refrigerator.
Serve and Enjoy!
To serve, add a spoon or two of chilled fennel syrup into a glass of icy cold water or any other drink of choice; ice and citrus are welcome additions.
