Ingredients
Two tbsp oil, three-fourth tsp mustard, one tsp cumin, one tsp urad dal, one tsp chana dal, one dried red chilli, few curry leaves, half onion, one inch ginger, two chilli, salt, three cup water, one tsp sugar, one cup rava / semolina, one tsp ghee, half lemon juice, two tbsp coriander.
Heat oil
Heat oil in a kadai and splutter mustard, cumin, dals, and red chillies with curry leaves for some flavour.
Add onion
Add the chopped onions, ginger, green chillies, and salt. Sauté until the onions are softened and slightly translucent.
Add sugar
Pour sugar and water into the boiling pot, then keep stirring while slowly adding rava to avoid lump formation.
Cover it
Cover and simmer for 2 minutes until the rava soaks the water, which gives a soft and fluffy upma texture.
Add ghee
Add ghee, some lemon juice, and chopped coriander; mix well and serve hot with fresh coconut chutney.
