Ingredients
Half a cup bajra (millet), half a cup of yellow moong dal, one tablespoon of desi ghee, a pinch of asafoetida (hing), one teaspoon of cumin seeds, one teaspoon of red chilli powder, one-fourth teaspoon of turmeric powder, and salt to taste.
Soak bajra
Start by thoroughly rinsing bajra and washing the bajra. Soak it overnight, as this will soften the grains.
Cook bajra and dal
Put soaked bajra and dal in a pressure cooker with salt and water. Cook this for 4-5 whistles until it becomes soft.
Add tempering
Take a pan and add ghee, cumin seeds, asafoetida, turmeric powder, and red chilli powder. Cook it for a minute and add it to the prepared khichdi.
Serve khichdi
Simmer the khichdi for 1-2 minutes. Garnish it with ghee on top and serve it with achaar and papad on the side.
