How To Make Masala Idli For Breakfast From Leftover Idli?

Ingredients

4-5 leftover idli, 1-2 red chillies, 8-10 curry leaves, half a cup of chopped onion, half a cup of chopped tomato, a teaspoon of turmeric, salt as required, 2-3 tablespoons of butter, half a teaspoon of mustard seeds, half a tablespoon of red chilli powder, half a tablespoon of coriander powder, one-fourth teaspoon of black pepper, and 1-2 tablespoons of oil or ghee.

Prepare the idli

Take the leftover idli and cut them into small bite-sized cubes. Set the idli and refrigerate them to make them firm.

Prepare tempering masala

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Once they start to sputter, add red chillies and onion. Saute them until golden brown.

Prepare the spice mix

Now, add chopped tomatoes, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and coriander powder. Cook it until tomatoes are soft and tender.

Coat the idli

Now, add the chopped idlis to the pan and coat the roasted masala and tempering evenly. Cook this for 2-3 minutes.

Garnish and serve

Once the idli is cooked, garnish them with chopped coriander leaves. Pair this with coconut chutney on the side.
