Ingredients
6-8 slices of leftover bread or two cups of leftover bread, one onion, one tomato, a teaspoon of mustard seeds, a teaspoon cumin seeds, half a teaspoon turmeric powder, salt to taste, two tablespoons of oil or ghee, a pinch of asafoetida (hing), a teaspoon of chilli powder, and 8-10 curry leaves.
Prepare bread and tempering
Take the bread slices and cut them into small cubes. Now, heat oil in a pan and add hing, curry leaves, and mustard seeds. Cook them until it starts to sputter.
Add spices
Now, add green chillies, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, chilli powder, and salt to the pan. Cook it for a minute.
Add vegetables
Add chopped onions and chopped tomatoes to the pan. Saute the vegetables for 1-2 minutes until they are crisp.
Toss bread
Add the cubes of bread pieces to the pan. Stir it well and cook it until bread is crisp and golden brown.
Garnish and serve
Turn off the flame and garnish it with coriander leaves and lemon juice on top. Serve it with mint chutney or a cup of hot tea.
