The coffee vs. tea debate is ages-old. While there are many kinds of tea, we would be comparing specifically Chai to caffeinated coffee.

Tea contains less amount of caffeine than coffee. However, the caffeine in tea provides more mental clarity and focus.

Energy

While coffee provides an instant kick of energy, tea energises you for a longer time as it also contains a chemical called L-theanine.

Antioxidants

When it comes to antioxidants, coffee not only beats tea but also red wine and chocolate. Antioxidants prevent oxidative damage.

Immunity

Tea, specifically masala chai, can provide immunity-boosting benefits as it is made with a blend of spices such as ginger, cardamom and cinnamon.

Side Effects

While both have their health benefits, tea and coffee have a diuretic effect on the body which can cause dehydration.

As long as you take these beverages in moderation, there are no major harmful effects. Also, it is important to not add too much sugar in the preparation of tea or coffee.
