You may have often heard that a diabetes patient should avoid any type of sweet. Eating sugar directly can cause blood sugar spikes, leading to skin allergies and kidney problems. So what should a diabetes patient eat instead? Tap to read!

Glycaemic index

Jaggery has a lower glycaemic index, which helps prevent instant blood sugar spikes as compared to refined sugar.

Mineral content

Jaggery is rich in natural minerals like iron, magnesium, and potassium. Processed sugar does not contain anything beneficial for your body.

Unprocessed sugar

Jaggery is a natural and unprocessed sweetener as compared to processed white sugar. This makes jaggery a better option for diabetics.

Portion control

Include jaggery in your diet in smaller portions and eat in moderation. Be mindful of your blood sugar levels.

Healthier alternatives

Try to shift to palm jaggery and coconut jaggery. They have a lower glycaemic index, which prevents blood sugar spikes.
