Every year, 1st December is observed as World AIDS Day, a day dedicated to awareness, prevention, and support for people living with HIV.

In this video, we break down everything you need to know in simple, easy-to-understand language:

1. The History & Origin of AIDS
How AIDS was first identified in the early 1980s, the discovery of HIV, and how the virus originated in Central Africa before spreading across the world.

2. Understanding HIV & AIDS (In Simple Terms)
HIV is a virus that weakens the immune system.
AIDS is the final or advanced stage of HIV, when the body becomes too weak to fight infections.
HIV and AIDS are NOT the same, and with early testing and treatment, people with HIV can live long, healthy, normal lives.

3. How HIV Spreads (Real Causes)
HIV does not spread through air, hugging, shaking hands, sharing food, using the same toilet, or through mosquito bites.
It spreads only through:

Unprotected sex
Infected blood transfusion
Sharing needles (drugs, tattoos, piercings)
Mother-to-baby transmission (pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding)

4. Myths vs Facts
We bust the most common misconceptions — including the mosquito myth, social contact myth, and the stigma around HIV-positive individuals.
Stigma is more dangerous than the virus.

5. New Advancements in Treatment & Prevention
The world has made huge progress in HIV research:
ART medicines can control the virus
U = U (Undetectable = Untransmittable)
PrEP can prevent HIV infection
HIV self-testing kits are now available
Researchers are working on vaccines and long-acting injections
HIV is now considered a manageable chronic condition, just like diabetes or hypertension.

6. Prevention Matters
The most effective method of HIV prevention is using condoms.
They protect against HIV, STDs, and unwanted pregnancies — safely and affordably.
We also spoke to Dr. Tanaya (Dr. Cuterus), a well-known millennial doctor, to clear common doubts about condom safety and sexual health myths.

7. Importance of HIV Testing
Early detection leads to early treatment — and a normal life.

Vomiting is very normal with babies and you do not need to panic if the baby vomits 2-3 times a day. After six months, the child should boil potatoes, and if desired, light salt can be added to it. The child can also be provided with grind idli, dhokla, chapati in milk etc. At the age of 10 months, your baby is not fully ready to eat everything you can eat.
