The Center says that they do not stop the virus from spreading and their use is detrimental to the measures adopted to prevent the infection. Rajiv Garg, Director General of Health Services in the Ministry of Health, has written a letter to the principal secretaries of health and medical education of the states, saying that people, especially the valve mask are misusing the N-95 mask. He also referred to the advisory available on the website of the Ministry of Health on the use of in-house protective face and mouth cover in the letter.
