If your newborn baby or infant is crying because of pain in the stomach, there is nothing to worry about as this is a common occurrence amongst babies. Onlymyhealth reached out to Dr. Rahul Nagpal, Director- Paediatrics and Neonatology at Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj to know why digestive problem occur in babies and how they can be relieved. Vomiting, gastric issues, stomach pain, etc. are some common infant problems. You should watch this video to know the root cause and prevention of these issues. Here are some highlights of the video for you:
Vomiting is very normal with babies and you do not need to panic if the baby vomits 2-3 times a day. But if the vomiting is frequent and the color of the vomit is green, you should take him to a doctor as this is not a good sign. Sometimes, it is the formula milk that you are feeding is coming out.
Regurgitation is another common problem with infants where they vomit curd-like milk. This is also common unless there is blood coming out along. This problem could be due to ill-positioning.
Diarhhoea or loose motions are also common in babies as it happens with most of the babies. If the baby is not passing urine, it is slightly concerning. If the baby is defecating multiple times a day with watery stools, take him to the doctor for checkup.
