Lifestyle changes for a healthy back include a combination of pain management techniques, back specific exercise, dietary precautions and postural changes.

Stretch: To maintain a healthy back, make sure to stretch your back and neck several times a day. It ensures that spine remains flexible and maintains a good range of motion, considerably reducing the risk of injury. . Inactive hamstring is one of the reasons of back problems, as it may pull on the bottom of your pelvis and encourage it to rotate backwards. This puts stress on the entire spine and its articulations. So, you need to ensure that you do your stretching at least twice a day to promote spinal health.

Stay active: Staying active and keeping your body moving helps maintain healthy spine. You can choose from various activities such as visit to a fitness centre, taking a walk, swimming or playing with your kids. You just need to ensure that it has to be a combination of stretching, strengthening and aerobic activities so that muscles, ligaments and tendons in your lower back are not pressed.

Work smart:

Don’t lift heavy objects or take precautions: Lifting objects may add to the back trouble, and might twist your spine the wrong way. So, it is better to take precautions while lifting heavy objects.  Stand close to the object and bend your knees so that your arms are at the same height as the object. Make sure your back remains straight while lifting the object.

Don’t ignore warning signs: Never ignore any warning signs of spinal problems. Although, it is common to have back pain once in a while, but it should be taken care of. If left untreated, problems of spine may become serious.
