It is alarming how a lot of men do not know what a prostate gland is. This is one of the reasons why most prostate problems are ignored, thus advancing to a stage in which getting treatment becomes difficult.
Prostate gland is a walnut-sized gland that is part of the male reproductive system. It wraps around like a tube that takes the urine out of the bladder and keeps growing as you grow older. But, if the prostate gland gets lager than what it should, you may begin to face variable complications. If the symptoms are not so bad as to require treatment, the doctor will ask you to wait and see if it gets worse. You will be told to visit the doctor frequently for checkups. Treatment may start later ones symptoms have begun to get worse.
Medications are prescribed to shrink the prostate gland or help the muscles to relax near the prostate and ease your symptoms. Speak to your doctor about your concern over side-effects of medications.
If nothing seems to work, the doctor will suggest you to undergo surgery so as to help the urine flow with ease.There are several types of BPH surgeries, which you can pick after discussing the risks and benefits of each with your doctor.
What it is: this prostate problem starts all of a sudden from an existing bacterial infection. Signs include fever, chills, pain during urination or blood in the urine.
How it is treated: if you observe all the above-mentioned symptoms, you must seek your doctor’s help immediately. He/she would prescribe medication to make you feel better.
What it is: also referred to as chronic pelvic pain syndrome, this disease is a very commonly experienced prostate problem. It can lead to pain in the lower part of the back, at the tip of the penis and in the groin area. You may also experience painful ejaculation. Other symptoms include the need to urinate frequently, but there being only a small amount of urine.
How it is treated: on diagnosis of this prostate problem, the doctor will suggest a combination of surgery, medications along with lifestyle changes.
What it is: this is a prostate problem that is an infection that comes back continually. This type of prostate problem is rare compared with the rest and can be difficult to treat.
How it is treated: upon diagnosis of this problem, your doctor will prescribe antibiotics that will have to be taken for a long time. Sometimes, the antibiotics may not work till they are used continually for a really long time. Speak to your doctor for other things that you can do to control the infection.
It is best to speak with your doctor as soon as you experience one or more of the symptoms mentioned above. Early diagnosis would help you to fight the disease more successfully.
