Prostate problems develop in a lot of men as they age. While some may not even need treatment, others will go so far as to be given surgical treatment.
It is alarming how a lot of men do not know what a prostate gland is. This is one of the reasons why most prostate problems are ignored, thus advancing to a stage in which getting treatment becomes difficult.
Prostate gland is a walnut-sized gland that is part of the male reproductive system. It wraps around like a tube that takes the urine out of the bladder and keeps growing as you grow older. But, if the prostate gland gets lager than what it should, you may begin to face variable complications. An important thing to note is that suffering from a prostate problem does not directly imply that you have cancer.
Common Prostate Problems
Some of the non-cancer prostate problems include the following:
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
What it is: this just means that your prostate gland is large but not cancerous. It may become difficult for you to urinate or there may be some amount of dribbling after urination. There may also be a need to urinate frequently at night.

If the symptoms are not so bad as to require treatment, the doctor will ask you to wait and see if it gets worse. You will be told to visit the doctor frequently for checkups. Treatment may start later ones symptoms have begun to get worse.
Medications are prescribed to shrink the prostate gland or help the muscles to relax near the prostate and ease your symptoms. Speak to your doctor about your concern over side-effects of medications.
If nothing seems to work, the doctor will suggest you to undergo surgery so as to help the urine flow with ease. There are several types of BPH surgeries, which you can pick after discussing the risks and benefits of each with your doctor.
Acute Bacterial Prostatitis
