Smokers Are Highly Susceptible To Coronavirus, Says WHO

Coronavirus outbreak which originated from Wuhan city of China has reached over 170 countries infection more than 1.2 million people all across the globe. This deadly virus doesn't have any vaccine yet which makes the treatment even more difficult. Besides senior citizens and people ailing with respiratory, cardiovascular or any such serious health concerns, smokers are at a higher risk of COVID-19. They have a weak immunity which puts them at risk of this lethal infection. While it is suggested that you must quit smoking and drinking at least until this virus is active. The possible reason behind them more vulnerable to this infection is sharing cigarettes and possible chances of virus transmission. When buying a cigarette from a street vendor or sharing a cigarette with someone else can increase the risk by 100%. As this virus is spread through tiny water droplets or saliva, the probability of you getting COVID-19 goes up. Thus, it is suggested by WHO to quit smoking and practice healthy hygiene, diet and lifestyle to stay safe.
