With a wide variety of food available on the roadside, how one can manage food allergies when travelling is a serious concern. The best solution to this according to Dr. M. P Sharma, gastroenterologist, is to completely avoid eating roadside food, which is unhygienic, contaminated and prepared with low quality ingredients. The pollution caused by vehicles and flies from open drains contaminate the roadside food to such an extent that eating it possess a threat of diarrhoea. Gorging on roadside milk and non-vegetarian products can lead to chronic food poisoning. While travelling, it is better to carry pouches of homemade food. Must you consume roadside food, make sure it is properly cooked, covered and served in well-cleaned utensils.
