Its been one and a half year since the emergence of coronavirus but it is still daunting upon us. First wave and then second wave came and took many lives, infecting billions of people all across the globe. Children were least infected in these waves but the speculated third wave is believed to be more dangerous for children. Thus, parents need to exercise all measures to keep their kids safe from this fatal virus. Given that the vaccination for kids hasn’t been started yet, it becomes all the way more important to protect them by all means. Even if it requires them to stay at home, ensure that this happens to minimize exposure and risk of coronavirus.

Onlymyhealth got in touch with Dr. Shreya Dubey, Department of Neonatology and Paediatrics, CK Birla Hospital, Gurgaon to understand the risk of covid-19 infection in kids and how it can be averted. Here are some points raised by her:

  • Encourage your kids to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour
  • Hand hygiene should be followed either through handwashing or by using alcohol-based hand sanitiser
  • Make sure that proper sanitisation is being done to reduce the risk of them contracting the virus
  • Children above two years of age must wear masks

These are some of the precautions that should be exercised. Maximum protection, minimum risk of infection.
