In winters, diabetic patients should consume bajra. It is high in fiber and magnesium. Fiber helps in controlling blood sugar levels and magnesium increases the capacity of insulin and glucose inceptor in the body. Bajra is easy to digest and helps in controlling diabetes effectively. Bajra roti should be included in your diet in winters.
Spinach is also a beneficial food for diabetic patients. It contains follic acid that helps in maintaining your blood sugar and blood pressure levels. In addition to that, spinach is also considered as a low carb food that also helps in keeping low blood sugar. Therefore, it is a good food item to eat in winters.
3. Sweet potato
Sweet potato is a popular winter food item. Moreover, it should be eaten by diabetic patients too. Sweet potato also has high fiber content. In fact, it has minerals like beta kerotene, calcium and potassium present in it that helps in keeping you healthy. Sweet potato increases the insulin production that is essential to balance for diabetic patients.
Jaggery is also a good way to replace sugar for diabetics. However, don't overconsume jaggery and eat only 5 grams of this food per day.
Guava has high fiber content that helps in reducing the problem of constipation and a diabetic patient mostly suffers from this problem.
Another winter food for diabetic patients is nuts. The most healthy nuts for this purpose are almonds, walnuts and pista. Therefore, diabetics should include these foods in your diet to stay healthy.
