Infertility is the biological inability of a person to participate in conception. According to Dr Asha Sharma, Gynaecologist, Rockland Hospital, New Delhi, the causes of infertility in males and females are many, but the primary ones are related to non-production of eggs in the females and sperm in the males. Apart from the primary factors for infertility, the faulty areas in females may be the cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes (get blocked) and testes (do not produce enough or the right kind of sperms) in males. Infertility has been seen to be caused 40% in women and 40% in men. Few other factors responsible for infertility include PCOD, hypertension, thyroid etc.
