Although a burnt palate doesn't appear like a dental problem, but burning the roof of the mouth with pizza or any other hot food makes it prone to infections. So, if at any time you get hurt putting a hot cake into your mouth, take a little amount of toothpaste on your finger tip and draw a protective coating on the burn; this will speed up healing.
Drinking coffee or tea when it is too hot can burn the tongue. But, you can easily fix it with a teaspoonful of salt mixed in a cupful of warm water. The salt will draw infection to the surface of the tissue. Prepare a solution of water and salt and rinse your mouth with it.
Sports and activities often pose a damaging risk of knocking teeth out. But, if attended to in a timely manner, you can reattach the lost tooth to the gum. Just rinse the tooth, push it back in its place and bite down gently on a soft cloth or moistened tea bag to hold it in place. Knocking out a tooth tears the periodontal ligaments, but some might still cling to the tooth. If reconnected early enough, they can reattach to the gums. The tooth will soon recover and become stronger in a few days.
Teeth may at times develop cracks due to temperature changes that are usually caused by eating something too cold right after eating hot food. During the expansion and contraction, the teeth may develop cracks. Get a repairing chip especially designed to repair such cracks and apply it properly.
Sharp and spicy foods can cause canker sores, but you can cure them by applying vegetable oil on them three to four times a day with the help of a cotton swab.
Exposed nerve roots make the gums sensitive and the teeth loose. To avoid sensitive teeth, stop using toothpastes that contain phosphates as they may be abrasive and can make your teeth more sensitive. Switch to a toothpaste that is meant for sensitive teeth.
