A migraine is a common type of headache that may occur with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to light. In many people, a throbbing pain is felt only on one side of the head. There is no specific cure for migraine headaches and the best solution is to manage them at home. There are several foods that can help you fight migraines.
Coffee

Coffee has been closely connected with migraines. Caffeine has been one of the most common causes that trigger migraines in some people. Contrary to this, a few cups of coffee may also help relieve the pain when a migraine strikes. Caffeine helps the swollen blood vessels in the brain to shrink.
Fruits

Many women often experience migraines during their periods due to a sudden drop in estrogen levels. The higher the estrogen level, the more it can fall during the periods, triggering severe migraines. Fruits, known for high nutritional value and low fat content, contain plant estrogens in their fibers that control estrogen levels. These levels are naturally maintained by our bodies by removing excessive hormones with excretion.
Ginger

Ginger is believed to have compounds similar to those in non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs which may work against migraines by blocking inflammatory substances called prostaglandins. You can simply add the spice to your plate as and when you feel any symptom of migraine.
Fish

Fish like Salmon or Mackerel, are rich sources of Omega 3 fatty acids which may help reduce migraines. Researchers at University of Cincinnati have found that fatty fish reduces the frequency as well as the severity of migraines in some people when taken in supplement form over the course of six weeks.
Magnesium Rich Foods

Several studies have shown that lack of magnesium can make the brain more prone to migraines. Magnesium rich foods like whole grains, beans, and leafy dark green vegetables can help fight the migraines. A diet rich in magnesium may even prevent migraines on the long run.
