Scientists believe that caffeine applied directly to the skin might help prevent damaging ultraviolet light from causing skin cancer. Another older research also had indicated that mice that were fed caffeinated water and than exposed to UVB radiation, which damaged their skin cell, were able to kill most of the damaged cells, thus reducing the risk of the damaged cells becoming cancerous. The researchers were able to find that caffeine worsened cognition to a very little extent in women, with no noticeable effect in men. However, another study published in Nature Neuroscience claimed that caffeine taken regularly after studying helps with memory consolidation. Another study published in Neuropharmacology concluded that moderate levels of caffeine helps with cognition in males, however, excessive caffeine may have negative effect on memory.
