Your Mom Might Not Know Some Tricks

Childcare is a daunting task. Some tricks about baby care have been coming down through your grand-grand-mothers to your mother and you. But there can be a few things even your mother doesn’t have up her sleeve. Be a fabulous mom with our inside secrets of baby care.
Hold Your Baby Often

Moms have always been criticised for holding their babies too much but believe us you cannot spoil your baby by holding her/him. So, ignore the critics! Babies who are held often and have their needs met right away are more likely to have higher self-images and learn they are respected and worthy.
Don’t Spend on Baby Wipes

For some sensitive bums, baby wipes can be harsh and can cause rashes. You don’t really need to buy them. You may not believe it but a 100% breastfed baby doesn't need baby wipes. Breastfed babies’ faeces are low in acid and bacteria, watery and are wiped off easily. Their urine also is dilute and noncorrosive. Wipe your baby’s butt with the damp cloth diaper you're taking off, and re-wrap in a new clean cloth diaper.
Sterilize the Bottles in Dishwasher

If you will sterilize your baby’s bottle in an old fashioned pot-with-water way, you will end up taking much time. Sterilization is easier than you think! Toss everything in your dishwasher (sans soap) and run it on a short, hot cycle. See, you don’t need a pricey home sterilizer.
Open the Diaper Slowly

If you want to avoid the sudden spray of your baby’s urine, open his/her diaper slowly. When cool air hits a baby's privates, he'll tend to pee. You can also cover Baby's privates with a washcloth, which will absorb the spray before it gets you.
Play Music

Music just doesn’t calm the savage beast, it soothes a baby too. When you want to calm your child down, put him to sleep or stop crying in the car, slide in a CD and see how it works wonders on your stressed little one.
Skip the Shoes

Your child doesn’t need the shoes until she can’t walk. Socks? Of course! If you still put them on, be honest: It's about you, not him/her. Save the money until he/she really needs them.
Use Blackout Curtains

If your precious one is a really early riser, make it a little harder to wake up by hanging blackout curtains in baby's room. You can’t really explain sleeping in to your infant so, save your sanity by making them used to waking up late.
Take Help

In the end, you're the parents, so you decide what's best. So, ignore unwanted or confusing advice. However, you can accept help from anyone who is nice or naive enough to offer. Don't be afraid to tell people exactly what you need.
Use Heat for Blocked Breasts

Try a warm compress if your breasts are engorged or you have blocked ducts. A heating pad or a warm, wet washcloth works, but a flax pillow (often sold with natural beauty products) is even better. Heat it in the microwave, and conform it to your breast.
