Repeated exposure to the sun causes the skin to tan. In fair skins, there is an accumulation of pigment in the lower layers, which gradually gets destroyed, as it is transferred to the upper layer. Where it is not, it appears on the skin in an uneven manner in the form of freckles, or dark spots.
If your skin has the tendency to freckle always protect the skin with a sunscreen. To lighten freckles, some home remedies like buttermilk or yogurt may help. Add a pinch of turmeric to yogurt and apply. Use a facial scrub once or twice a week. For dry skin, after using the scrub, apply cold milk. Milk also helps to lighten freckles. For a scrub, mix 2 tablespoons ground almonds and mix it with half a cup of yogurt and apply. Once or twice a week, use a face mask. Mix 3 teaspoons oatmeal with half cup ripe papaya and one teaspoon honey.

Over activity of the oil glands of the skin usually results in enlarged pores. The constant oozing of oil and clogging of the pores both lead to loss of elasticity of the pores. Thus excessive secretion of oil mars the porcelain quality of the skin, which begins to look coarse. The pores must be kept free of oil. The cleanser should be one that removes oil. Deep pore cleansing with grains and scrubs help to prevent clogging of the pores with hardened oil. The skin should be toned daily. A rose-based skin toner is ideal. Keep some in the fridge with cotton in it. Wipe the face with cotton several times. You can mix rose water with cucumber juice and apply it after cleansing. Mix multani mitti with rose water and apply.
These are small, hard, uneven and raised growths, with a rough surface. A wart should never be picked with the nails. It is best to refer to a dermatologist or a homeopath. Applying vinegar on the warts daily causes them to finally fall out. Apply it only on the wart, using cotton. Again, soak cut onions in water overnight. Next morning apply the water.
In whiteheads, oil and dead cells collect in pockets just beneath the skin. They are tiny raised spots and occur where the skin is fine. Since the pores are not open, whiteheads are difficult to remove. While blackheads occur mostly on oily skin, whiteheads can occur even on dry skin. They generally occur on areas like the forehead, under the eyes, cheekbones, etc.
A proper cleansing routine is important. The use of facial scrubs helps to discourage whiteheads. If the skin is very dry, use the scrub once a week and on the areas. For oily skin, scrubs can be used more often. But, scrubs should not be applied on pimples, acne or rash. Some home remedies are said to help. Make a paste of fenugreek (methi) leaves and apply on the face. Grated potato or potato juice may also be applied. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily. Add the juice of a lemon to a glass of water and drink it first thing in the morning. Drinking barley water also helps.

You should apply a sunscreen with high SPF before going out in the sun. You can mix rice powder with curd and use as a facial scrub once or twice a week. Apply only on the dark area of the face and rub gently on the skin with tiny circular movements. Leave on for a few minutes and then wash off with water. Take curd, add a pinch of turmeric and apply daily on the face and neck. Wash it off after 20 minutes with plenty of water. For the neck, apply pure almond oil and massage daily, starting from chin and going downwards. Mix besan, curd, lemon juice and a little haldi and apply twice a week on the neck and forehead. Wash it off after half an hour.
