There are no specific antiviral therapies available. Treatment is presently directed towards comfort measures with hydration, bed rest, and analgesics.

Preventing mosquito bites through the use of repellents, nets, and covering your whole body in clothing. It is particularly during the day and late afternoon.

In most patients, there is a week of complete recovery. Here, the joint pains may last for a few weeks or even for several months.
