Shortness of Breath

A popcorn lung causes shortness of breath as it narrows the bronchioles, restricting airflow and making it hard for oxygen to reach the lungs.

Discomfort in Chest

Discomfort in the chest is also a sign of popcorn lung, as the lungs are not able to expand fully and take extra effort to breathe.

Dry Cough

The disorder causes the bronchioles to scar and inflame, irritating the lining of the respiratory tract, leading to a dry cough.

Rapid Breathing

As the disorder makes it hard to breathe, the body increases the breathing rate, which leads to rapid breathing.

Wheezing

As the bronchioles are narrowed in the disorder, it obstructs airflow to the lungs, causing a high-pitched whistling sound called wheezing.

When the immune system fights inflammation in the lungs, it can cause body temperature to fluctuate, causing sweating, especially at night.

Fatigue

It also causes fatigue, as the body exerts itself while trying hard to breathe. Low levels of oxygen in the bloodstream also cause fatigue and weakness.
