What is Liver Cirrhosis?

Liver Cirrhosis or chronic liver failure is a condition where healthy liver tissue is replaced with scar tissue, leading to impaired liver function. People with diabetes, obesity, and other conditions are more likely to develop it.

Itchy Skin

The damaged tissue in the liver is not able to produce enough bile juice, which builds up bile salts under the skin, leading to itchy skin.

Nausea

The liver in cirrhosis can cause a feeling of nausea or vomiting as the liver is not able to filter out the waste, leading to waste buildup in the bloodstream.

Muscle Cramps

Liver cirrhosis can cause electrolyte imbalance and poor blood circulation, which interfere with muscle and nerve function, leading to muscle cramps.

Poor Appetite

Liver cirrhosis can cause toxin buildup and alter metabolism, which affects appetite and hunger, leading to a reduced desire to eat.

Bruising

Liver Cirrhosis reduces the amount of proteins that help in blood clotting. This lower amount of blood clotting proteins can easily cause bruising or bleeding.

Feeling Tired and Weak

This condition can cause tiredness and weakness because it is unable to absorb nutrients properly, leading to toxin buildup and affecting energy levels.

Darkening of Urine Colour

Liver cirrhosis can cause the urine to darken because the body is unable to eliminate bilirubin (a yellow pigment) properly, leading to its buildup in the blood.
