Ingredients
Two cups of fresh amla, two cups of jaggery powder, one teaspoon of black salt, one teaspoon of salt, half a lemon, one tablespoon of corn flour slurry, half a tablespoon of ghee, and powdered sugar.
Steam amla
Start by thoroughly washing amla and place them in a steamer. Steam them for 10 minutes until they soften.
Grind Amla
Let the amla cool down for sometime and deseed them. Add the amla to a mixer and grind to a fine paste.
Add jaggery powder
Now, add the amla paste to the pan with jaggery powder. Now, cook it until the jaggery powder melts. Stir it occasionally to avoid burning.
Add salt and lemon juice
Now, add salt and black pepper to the mixture. Squeeze half a lemon for a tangy taste. This will prevent the jaggery from crystallising.
Add cornflour slurry
Add one tablespoon of corn flour slurry to the pan. Stir it continuously and cook it until it thickens.
Add ghee
Add ghee to this and cook until it starts to thicken. Transfer this to a baking tray lined with butter paper.
Coat powdered sugar
After 40 minutes, cut the candies into small cubes and coat them with powdered sugar. Store this in an airtight container and enjoy.
