Holi feels incomplete without scrumptious desserts and delights, notably bhaang. Extracted from the cannabis plant's leaves and bud, the powder is blended in thandai or added to pakodas, laddoos, and brownies for an intoxicating festival effect. While some people enjoy consuming bhaang, some unknowingly have it. However, it might result in a mild to severe hangover the next day and may lead to headaches, nausea, and fatigue. Here are some home remedies for treating a post-Holi hangover in the most holistic way possible.

#1 Lemon water

Lemon water helps improve digestion and also detoxifies the body. Drinking a glass of warm lemon water will help you recover from the hangover. If the person is highly intoxicated, make them consume lemon juice. This would start to reduce the effect of bhaang immediately.

However, one important thing to note here is that do not add sugar to lemon water. Sugar increases toxicity and might complicate the condition further.

#2 Honey

Honey helps in the digestion of alcohol and soothes the stomach. So, consume a spoon of honey with some warm water for relief. This remedy is useful in bringing back your cognitive powers. You can club this with warm lemon water.

#3 Herbal tea

Benefits of herbal teas are not limited to weight loss and insomnia relief but there is a lot to it. Drinking herbal teas can help combat post-holi hangover effectively. 

Herbal teas like green tea, jasmine tea, marigold tea, tulsi tea are loaded with antioxidants and are low on caffeine making them ideal as a post hangover remedy. You can try either of these to regain your senses. Green tea is readily available and because of its bitter taste, it is appropriate for hangover relief.

#4 Consume fresh fruits

Fresh fruits like banana, oranges, apple, grapes, watermelon are rich in various nutrients which will help move alcohol out of your system faster and also hydrate your body. 

You can make fruit salad and squeeze a lot of fresh lemon juice to it. Consume these to load your body with antioxidants and needful nutrients to counter the effects of alcohol.

#5 Eat plenty of salad

Eat plenty of salad made with fresh veggies as they are loaded with antioxidants and fiber which helps relieve hangovers. Just like fruits, vegetables including some fresh and juicy veggies like cucumber, tomatoes, spinach, kale, broccoli and whatever veggies you like. Top it with fresh lemon juice to make it more healthy.
