We know you might be doing a lot of research about all the do’s and don'ts, the pain you are going to feel, safety measures, the best kind of wax and whatnot. We understand your concerns, and that’s why we have done all the research on your behalf so that you can get the answers about going completely bare down there. So calm down and read on 7 things that you need to know about brazilin wax.

Before jumping further into it, let us first understand the concept of Brazillian wax.

1# What is a Brazilian Wax?

Brazilian wax means waxing all your hair down there. The only thing is that if you want, you can choose to leave a small strip or a little triangle at the front and get your hair removed from everywhere else.

2# What is a Full Brazilian Wax?

Just a step ahead of your regular Brazilians wax a full Brazilians wax would not even leave a single strand of hair behind from all the way from your labia to clitral fold and to your hips. This wax will make you go completely bare down there.

3# Is it Painful?

Each and every procedure where your hair is going to be removed from the hair follicle will hurt, but there's good news for you. Brazilian wax hurts the most at the first time, and the pain gets reduced overtime and your next sitting is surely going to be less painful. As you start waxing your hair starts growing at the same time in the same direction, and hence it would not be as painful as on your first time. Although it's not even Carrie Bradshaw easy but with time you will get a hold of it.

In order to make your first waxing experience less painful, you can pop on an ibrufen right before your appointment to numb down that pain.

4# Which wax is better?

Hard wax or Strip wax, which one should I choose? Well, if you are looking for the answer to this question, then we would recommend you to go for hard wax. The simple logic behind this is that when you use strip wax to remove hair, it not just strips off the hair but the top layer of skin as well! Sounds painful right? Then why would someone even go for a strip wax? The answer is pretty simple. As strip wax takes away the topmost layer of your skin along with it, this helps you to get rid of all the dead skin cells and make your skin feel smoother.

Although you can opt for strip wax in your further sittings, it is a big NO for your first sitting.

5# How long will it last?

Usually, Brazilians wax lasts for about three to four weeks, but it also depends from person to person as different people might have different rates of hair growth. Although it is advised that you should let your hair grow to a quarter inch at least before going in for your next waxing session. And you can always trim in between.

6# Shaving or Waxing?

A question which has been debated about even more than the Trump and Biden election. Although shaving or waxing can totally be your personal choice, we would recommend you to opt to wax your hair down there. Although you can shave at the ease of your home at the time that suits you but as you shave, the hair heads become blunt and might itch and hurt you as they grow, and nobody would want that. Opting for a waxing session can give you 10-20 minutes of pain but will result in even hair growth, smoother skin and softer hair.

7# How to prepare before your wax session?

The most awaited and our favourite answer is here. What should we do before going for our waxing appointment? Well, we got you covered on this and have a 5 steps guide on how to prepare yourself for your wax session.

a) Trim!

If you are a first-timer and have a lot of growth, it is advised that you trim your hair to a quarter inch before getting them waxed. The longer the hair, the more painful your waxing experience will be.

How to do it?: All you need is a pair of small sharp scissors and a higher surface like a plastic table to place your foot on. Elevate one of your legs and hold the ends of your hair by stretching them slightly. Trim your hair very carefully so that you do not cut yourself. Once you are done with one side, lift up your other leg and repeat.

b) Exfoliate

Exfoliating the area you want to get waxed a week prior to your waxing appointment. Exfoliating beforehand will help you to get rid of dead skin cells and help the wax to grab your hair and not the skin, which will make your waxing experience less painful.

How to do it?: Use a gentle buff or a loofah in order to exfoliate the waxing area along with a gentle exfoliator. Make sure that you follow this process at least 48 hours before your waxing appointment. It will help to prevent the growth of ingrown hair and will make your waxing experience less painful.

c) Take a warm shower

It is always recommended to take a warm shower before your waxing appointment as the steam from the shower will help you to open up the hair follicles and will make it easier to remove hair while waxing.

d) Wear comfortable clothing

When going for a waxing appointment especially for your Brazilians wax make sure that you wear something loose and comfortable. It is important to let your skin breathe before waxing appointments. Wearing cotton panties with some loose linen pants or skirts would be the best option. If you wear something tight, it will trap the heat and moisture against your skin and will make your waxing experience uncomfortable and unpleasant.

e) Stay hydrated

Hydration is the key, so make sure that you drink plenty of water before your appointment. It will help you to ease the whole process and will make it less painful.
