It’s the much awaited season of festivals and you want to look and feel your best, right? But is your skin ready to add glamour to your looks?  You must be well aware that a healthy skin inside-out is the key to gorgeous looks and it takes a while for any skin-care regimen to show visible results. So the earlier you start the better. The festive season is almost here and you wouldn’t want to miss out on the glamour. You must be selecting your outfits and accessories but what about your skin? You need to prep it beforehand to get the desired glow during the festivities. Here are a few tips by Dr Kaustav Guha, Head of R&D at SkinKraft Laboratories to make your skin look flawless during this season of celebrations:

1# Cleansing

Firstly, you need to find a gentle but effective cleanser free of harmful chemicals that suits your skin. This is very important as you will be using this cleanser on a daily basis, even multiple times a day. Gel-based or water-based cleansers work well for dry, sensitive skin types. But if your skin is on the oilier side, you may prefer a stronger cleanser to keep your skin fresh.

2# Toning

A good toner not only helps to tighten your skin and reduce the gaping skin-pores but it also balances the pH of your skin. This makes your skin look healthier and also prevents issues like breakouts and acne. It is best to avoid alcohol based toners though, as they tend to dehydrate your skin. You can use natural toners like rose water if your skin tends to be on the drier side.

3# Moisturizing

Moisturisers lock in the hydration to keep your skin soft, supple and wrinkle free. So if you want a refreshed skin, choose this product wisely, again, according to your skin type. For best results, choose a fragrance-free moisturizer with vitamin E and ceramides. These ingredients will strengthen your skin-barrier, which not only keeps your skin hydrated but also protects it from germs and pollutants.

4# Sunscreen

Do not forget to apply a high SPF sunscreen during the daytime. Don’t be tricked by the cloudy looks of the sky, the harmful UV rays from the sun can steal your glow and put all your labour to waste. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen to get protection from both the UVA and UVB radiation of the sun. Some parts of the UV rays can even penetrate glass windows, so doctors often suggest using a sunscreen product indoors as well.

5# Exfoliation

You must be using a lot of make-up while dressing up for the festivities. Do not forget to use that exfoliating scrub once or twice every week to get rid of the depositions on your skin and to rejuvenate it.

6# Professional treatments

You may also opt for professional treatments such as dermabrasion, chemical peels or laser treatments to address any skin issues that you may be having or just to give your skin a little extra TLC! But make sure to book your sessions well in advance as most professional salons will experience a huge rush during this season.

7# Healthy lifestyle

Along with all the skin care routines you should also maintain a healthy lifestyle for a healthy, glowing skin. Avoid high-sugar or oily foods, include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet and also drink sufficient water throughout the day. You should also try to stay stress-free and get a good quality sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours every night.

It is very important that you understand your skin-type before choosing any product for maximum benefits. SkinKraft has just the right tools to help you understand your skin better and get customised products designed specifically to meet your skin’s special needs.
