The festival of colours comes brings out the joy and not to forget the chemically loaded colours that cause damage to the skin. These harmful chemicals can cause rashes, breakouts, allergies and other skin related problems. Know these tips to remove Holi colour from your face with natural remedies.

Lukewarm water

Washing your face with lukewarm water or normal tap water is the first step to remove the holi colour and apply face wash.

Milk

The milk nourishes your skin and makes it glow. Apply a paste adding besan and milk on your face and let it dry for 10 minutes. You can even scrub it out in circular motions. Wash it with lukewarm water and apply moisturizer to get rid of the holi colour. Milk contains vitamin A which solves the problem of dry skin and acne-prone skin. It removes dirt which clogs pores to form acne and contains lactic acid, which fights off microbes responsible for these clogged pores.

Coconut oil

This is a great way to avoid the stubbornness of Holi colours. Just apply coconut oil all over your body before playing with the colours. You can also apply it on your hair and can be applied before shampoo, leaving it on for an hour.

Oatmeal face pack

To make this scrub, add three tablespoons of oatmeal with two tablespoons of lemon juice and honey and add it with water to make a paste. Massage the face pack gently around the affected area of the skin. Leave it for 40 minutes and then wash with lukewarm water. The honey helps in reducing stains, makes your skin glow and moisturizes it. Oatmeal is beneficial for skin irritation and dryness.

Lemon

Rubbing fresh lemon on the areas of your face with colour stain can lighten it due to its acidic properties. Just rub the lemon gently for 15 minutes and rinse it with lukewarm or normal tap water.

Papaya paste

Papaya is used for brightening your skin as they help in clearing out blemishes and pigmentation. The enzyme papain and alpha hydroxy acids act as a powerful exfoliator and dissolve inactive proteins as well as dead cells. Mix papaya pulp with honey and make a smooth paste. You can also add Multani mitti to it. Use it gently and scrub it on your face. The colour might not come off completely in the first attempt but will fade away with time. Use this paste every day for 15 minutes until the colours go away.

Egg mask

Eggs usually help in improving skin texture, be it any type. The yolk, rich in fatty acids moisturizes the skin while the egg whites contain albumin, a protein that helps to tighten pores and also remove excessive oil. Just whip together three tablespoons of yoghurt with one egg and three tablespoons of lemon juice and apply it to the face for 20 minutes. Wash it off and apply moisturizer.

Wheat flour and lemon

Mix five tablespoons of wheat flour with two tablespoons of lemon juice and water in a bowl to form a thick paste. Mix it well and apply it across your face. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water. Whole wheat is rich in fibre content which helps cleanse your skin by removing harmful toxins. Removing these toxins will make your skin less prone to acne breakouts, making your skin look healthier and glowy.
