Sometimes your throat can have a burning sensation, but we don't always have immediate access to a doctor's clinic. In that case, home remedies come to the rescue. You may have this issue due to many underlying conditions, such as acid reflux, the common cold, flu and allergies. The burning sensation in your throat is not a cause of concern and can be treated with easy home remedies.

Drink Fluids

Hydration prevents and cures many illnesses, as water is essential in fighting viruses and bacteria. Adequate hydration is also important when recovering from infections like flu or cold. This is because your body needs to refill it with fluid that it lost during the illness. Water will not let your throat become dry, preventing irritation and the burning sensation. For this, you can drink warm water after mixing it with lemon and honey.

Hot Water Gargle

You can soothe the burning sensation of your throat by gargling with warm water. To increase the effectiveness, you can add a pinch of salt to the water. Gargle with this solution when you feel an itch or dryness in your throat. The salt in the solution will help you drain the mucus out, along with infection-causing viruses and bacteria.

Use Honey

One common and easily available home remedy to cure sore and burning throat is honey. As per the Centre For Disease Control And Prevention,  honey can be used to treat a cough just after the age of one. Honey tastes not only good but also provides immediate relief from throat infection while boosting the immune system. Its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties help fight bacteria, providing relief from the burning sensation in your throat.

Keep Your Throat Warm

Another easy way to relieve a burning sensation in your throat is by keeping it warm. This is because the impact of heat relaxes your muscles, providing relief. You can provide warmth to your neck by wrapping a woollen cloth, such as a scarf, around the neck.

Stay Away From Allergens

There is a high chance that the sensation you might be having in your throat is because of allergies. These allergies can be due to your diet or due to pollution. In both cases, it is necessary to stay vigilant and take protective measures. Make sure you do not eat foods and drinks that irritate your throat lining, like spicy and junk foods, tea, coffee, and alcohol. Along with this, it would be in your best interest if you quit smoking to prevent further irritation of your throat.
