We spoke to clinical nutritionist Ms. Shilpa Singh from Fatima Hospital, Lucknow to know about necessary nutrients that could make your breakfast healthy. Food that is meant to be low in calories is advised in the morning especially if you are looking for weight loss. Weight loss can only be initiated if you are consuming more calories than taking in. Nutrients those are rich in folate, iron, vitamin B and fibre in your diet. You can also have other vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B-12 which could be very effective in losing weight.

Breakfast foods to Promote Weight Loss

1. Eggs

Eggs are very healthy as a breakfast, they are known for their high proteins. It also contains minerals and selenium that helps to provide energy to the body. Eggs could have in several forms, as almost all the forms of having eggs are beneficial for you in the morning. Eggs are low in calories and reduce appetite, hence reducing craving for the day. Breakfast significantly increases fullness which is beneficial for people trying to lose their weight. You can add some fruits or toast with eggs to make it more healthy and nutritious.

2. Wheat Germ

Another essential and healthy compound that we usually miss in your diet is that of wheat germ. This is basically a component of wheat kernel which helps to reduce the amount calories and is high in energy providing nutrients. This wheat germ contains manganese, thiamine and selenium. This diet is also high in fibre because of which even one once of serving of this meal in breakfast is sufficient to last for several hours. 

This breakfast meal also reduces your appetite and increases stability in blood sugar levels. It is very beneficial in weight loss and controlling health parameters in the body.

3. Bananas

It’s time to go bananas; this fruit is widely consumed by majority of population. However people always remain confused about the time it should be consumed. Let us solve this confusion. Bananas are most beneficial and helpful when eaten in morning during breakfast or early hours of the day. This is because of simple reason that they are packed with fibre and low in calories. It also provides you with natural sugar which reduces your sugar cravings in the day. It has around 100 calories in one banana and it could ease your weight loss journey. People who do not eat eggs should consider having bananas in the morning. 

4. Yogurt

Yogurt is another healthy probiotic food which can be taken at almost any point of the day. However there are different myths revolving around benefits of yogurt, one thing is for sure that it is healthy. It makes for an excellent addition in your breakfast which helps to lose weight. Yogurt also contains proteins which make it a very healthy and nutritious snack. It reduces the risk of diabetes and has much lower calories than any other breakfast meal. You can mix it with some chia seeds and wheat germ to boost its nutritional quality.

5. Milk shakes

Milkshakes are healthy source of nutrients which are meant to be taken in the breakfast. This does not mean you add additional sugar into it, making it worse your weight loss. Milk shakes are meant to be made from healthy fruits which lower your calories and give you a feeling of fullness for the day. Filling your stomach with milk shake in the morning can help you with weight loss. This also boosts your energy, add some nuts, seeds and protein in the breakfast which makes your day better and more energetic. However be strict about the amount of calories.

7. Coffee in the Morning

Well excess of caffeine may be harmful for your body but taking it in the right amount in the morning is actually healthy. People wouldn’t have coffee for no reason. Coffee that contains caffeine aids in weight loss and also boosts your metabolism in the morning. Coffee also helps to burn fats which might be very hard to get rid of otherwise. 

In a study, it was observed that people having coffee in the morning could improve their metabolism by 13% and enhance their fat breakdown. Another important fact is that it is associated with less weight gain over the years of people having coffee in the morning.

8. Kiwis
