Which drink is suitable for fair skin whitening? Moisturizing is essential to maintain firm and toned skin. And drinks that claim action on our beauty. So, what do we drink to keep beautiful skin? THE MORE WATER YOU DRINK, THE BETTER THE SKIN IS HYDRATED: True and False. "Healthy skin is a skin that has sufficient water", insists Shivani Sikri, Chief Nutritionist at Nutri4Verve. But it is not advisable to drink more than the recommended average to have beautiful skin or too little, at the risk of creating a state of skin dehydration. In medicine, for example, we pinch the skin fold to check the condition of hydration of the body. So to have beautiful skin, you should not be under-hydrated. It would be best if you didn't miss out on good fats either: they are omega-3 and 6 (oleaginous, oils, avocado) essential fatty acids conditioning the elasticity of skin tissues. She adds, “the appearance of the skin, in particular its hydrated nature, also depends on the regular application of creams."

SHOULD YOU ONLY DRINK WHEN YOU ARE THIRSTY?

False. When you feel the need, you are already a little dehydrated. We must, therefore, force ourselves to drink as regularly as possible throughout the day. About 1.5 litres of h2O (water) per day in a temperate climate. Because this compensates for elimination through urine, perspiration and perspiration (evaporation of water from the epidermis surface). This average must be increased in the event of heat or intensive sports practice. We can, therefore, count a glass of water every hour. And don't hesitate to drink generally at the table. Unless there is water retention (swelling, heavy legs, weight gain ...), it is necessary to drink without meals. Guys should take 13 cups "of total beverages" each day, and ladies 9. But it would be best if you drank when you are dry. It turns out your body is much good at deciding when it is low on water. Consuming when you are not thirsty might even confuse your brain.

THE BETTER WE HYDRATE, THE MORE TOXINS WE ELIMINATE

True. Because it stimulates drainage, which allows the body to eliminate water-soluble toxins and other waste. It is one of the functions of the kidneys. But there's no point in drinking too much. Swallowing four litres of water a day tires the kidneys and does not make the skin more radiant! A good recipe for regaining a fresh complexion is to drink half a lemon squeezed in a glass of water at room temperature on an empty stomach every morning. This detox drink makes a face brighter in just a few days.

DRINKING AT ROOM TEMPERATURE IS BETTER

True. Even if, for the skin, it does not change much. You can drink hot to warm up in winter. In summer, cold drinks replace them. But it is better not to drink ice cold all the time: the cold constricts the digestive organs and therefore harms digestion. Instead, it is recommended to drink at room temperature, even hot, even water, to facilitate digestion in Chinese medicine. This has an indirect but real impact on the condition of the skin. By sipping room temperature liquid during the day, you will feel less thirsty than taking it cool. The downside to this is not absorbing enough liquid. To stay calm, your body will perspire and lose the minimum fluid you are intaking.

ANY DRINK CAN DO

False. Nothing prevents the consumption of drinks with various virtues and varied, but only water remains essential. That of the tap, if it is good. Otherwise, you can drink bottled water, mineral or spring, but preferably still. Bottled waters are rich in magnesium, calcium, sodium, chlorine, zinc, fluorine, and lithium. Minerals necessary for good skin health and are well absorbed by the body when the pH of the water approaches that of the body (7 or 8). This is not always the case because it also depends on our diet. Common sense, therefore, consists of varying your water consumption to have different intakes.

TEA, HERBAL TEA OR COFFEE, IT'S ALL THE SAME

False. “They all bring water to the body, that's already said. But coffee contains, among other things, caffeine, which will have a cardiac effect and will possibly be anxiety-provoking at high doses (more than five cups per day). On the other hand, tea, especially green tea, provides antioxidants beneficial for the skin, thanks to anti-free radical action and anti-ageing. It is avoided to drink during meals because it decreases the absorption of iron. Herbal teas and other infusions have their virtues. It is better to consume them after a meal if you want to benefit from their benefits too," adds the expert. Green tea and herbal tea difference: True teas, including black tea, oolong tea and green tea, are fermented from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis bush. On the other hand, herbal teas are made from flowers, dried fruits, herbs or spices.

"BEAUTY DRINKS" ARE INTERESTING

True and false. They contain water, minerals (calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium) and vitamins (A, B, C, E) and sugar. Others consist of a single vitamin in large doses (to be mixed with water). There are also tea blends with antioxidant properties and natural flavours. They, therefore, do not all have the same compositions, but their claims are similar: anti-ageing and moisturizing virtues. For Shivani Sikri, “these products are of little interest if they contain synthetic vitamins because the intestine less well assimilates these. Better to prepare real fruit and vegetable juice. This makes it possible to play on a vitamin diversification and contribute in antioxidants and, mainly, in polyphenols and fibre and all the other nutrients found in these foods. On the other hand, if the drink contains berries or any other natural vitamin C, why not?"

COCONUT WATER IS GOOD FOR THE SKIN

True. It is transparent, not very sweet and is gaining more drinkers among those looking for a healthy and natural drink with a health connotation. After a gym session or as a snack, coconut water would be beneficial for the skin for the rest of the body because it is very hydrating and rich in vitamins and minerals (calcium). It would even be as useful to drink as to apply to the skin, hydrate it, limit small pimples and other skin imperfections... But be careful with the amounts swallowed: unlike water, it still contains a little sugar, therefore calories. If you have dry and dull skin, a gentle dab of coconut water or a splash of it can rehydrate your skin immediately. Besides this, coconut water is a beautiful hydrating option to water. Taking it can preserve dehydration, thereby keeping your skin supple and soft.

HOW WATER GETS TO THE SKIN?

"Whether ingested directly while drinking or whether it comes from food, the water reaches the middle part of the skin, the dermis." But it does not match the epidermis since it is not vascularized. Only the dermis has vessels allowing nutrients (nutrients carried by the blood) to diffuse to the skin's surface part. The flow diffuses does not change according to the quantities, more or less critical, of ingested water.
