India’s cricket world cup superhero, Yuvraj Singh, has returned home after successful chemotherapy treatment in Boston, United States. Star cricketer underwent three cycles of chemotherapy to get rid of rare germ cell cancer manifested within lungs. Yuvraj received rousing reception from fans on his home return.
Batting stalwart was discharged from hospital last month after treatment. In order to recuperate from after-effects of chemotherapy, Yuvraj spend some days in London. Cycling legend and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong also sent an inspirational message to the batsmen, urging him to live strong. He was also visited by Sachin Tendulkar in London, who went there for consultation on his toe injury.
Yuvraj’s mother answered questions directed on his condition, stating that he has been advised rest for 10-15 days by the doctors. He will be fine very soon to practice and get back on the cricket pitch. She expressed delight on return of star left-handed batsmen to home, saying it is like another world cup win.
On his arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, he was mobbed by fans that were wishing him speedy recovery to see him back in action. Headed to his home in Gurgaon, he was accompanied by mother Shabnam Singh. Mediapersons also followed him home, to whom he disclosed that mother has cooked him 'Gobhi ke paranthe'.
Yuvraj’s father, Yograj Singh, told reporters that he's more than happy to see his son return home as a winner. He thanked God and all the fans who prayed for recovery of star cricketer.
Several celebrities, including politicians, actors and cricketers, welcomed Yuvraj home. His IPL franchise, Pune Warriors India tweeted, ‘Warrior Yuvraj Singh (@YUVSTRONG12) is back in India. Welcome back Yuvi.’ Yuvraj Singh will be off the pitch for few months and is expected to return by the end of 2012.
Earlier, Yuvraj announced his return on twitter, ‘finally the day has come ! I am going home tomorrow! Can’t wait, excited to see my friends and family, see you India!!’
