Don’t shy away from admitting that there is nothing wrong in having a good poop. It is something you can't miss, or you end up feeling far from normal for the rest of the day. An interesting thing is that healthy poop habits exist on a sliding scale, which means what’s considered normal frequency for someone might not cut it for others. Just like fingerprint, every person has different and unique bowel patterns. And, why so? Because everyone has different lifestyles, daily routines, food habits and genetics. Everybody poops but some people poop more than what may be average for others. Here are some reasons behind this behaviour.
There are several factors affecting your pooping habits including the food you eat, the amount of food you eat, the ingredients in your food, etc. However, the most important factor seems to be genetics. Some people are genetically programmed to poop more early in the morning unlike those who need a cup of coffee first thing in the morning just to have a good poop.
Your diet and its ingredients, especially the amount of fiber and water in it also influences your pooping habits significantly. Dietary fiber helps keep the stool soft, while water makes it easy to pass. Being short on either of these can affect your pooping session leading to less than normal poop or even constipation. It is recommended that you drink plenty of fluids and eat ample soluble fiber everyday to ensure you have a good poop every morning.
You may not realise it but the amount of physical activities you perform everyday also affect your poop. Being physically inactive or missing on your exercise session can cause slower motility in the gut that eventually leads to less pooping. Regularly exercise to keep yourself healthy and constipation-free.
Surprisingly, some women also experience a change in pooping session during their periods. Some women produce excess amount of prostaglandins, hormone that helps the uterus to expel waste, which may also increase bowel movement.
So, accept the fact that it is completely fine to poop more than others and there is nothing wrong about your metabolism or digestion. Stay active, healthy and drink plenty of fluids to have a good poop every day.
