Skin comprises of three layers, which are as follows:
The Epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin; its thickness varies as per the different parts of the body. This layer of skin is thickest at the palms and the heels, while it is thinnest at the eyelids.
The Dermis comprises only of living cell; in this layer you can find the sweat glands, hair follicles, nerve endings and blood capillaries.
The Subcutaneous Tissue is the inner most layer of the skin; it is comprised of a layer of fat and its thickness varies from one person to another. The body temperature is controlled by this layer and it also works as a protective layer for the internal organs from the external impact.
