  • The disease is usually mild and self limiting illness in most people. The acute phase of the illness (that is fever, myalgias and other symptoms) can last about 7-10 days.
  • Some patients may feel fatigued and weak (asthenia), for up to a month after the infection and full recovery can take several weeks.

Some patients with dengue fever can progress to DHF or DSS. The time taken for patients who develop DHF and DSS to recover depends on the severity of complication.

    We were doing some work in angola when i was infected by the virus. at first i thoyhht that it is some kind of flu.After the second day i realised that i had started getting disorientated like when you get low blood pressure.The doctor immediately told me that it is the virus after taking blood sample.The doctor prescribed paracetemol and vitamins. Its the 7th day now and even though i feel better, i don't feel like eating anything.
