Gastritis can be categorized into two types--acute and chronic gastritis. In most cases symptoms of acute gastritis improve rapidly in a few days. Recurrent episode of acute gastritis may make the symptoms last for longer duration. In chronic gastritis it may take a few days to weeks to control symptoms.
