If you are not one of those women who just know that their baby has come, there are some tell tale signs that you need to notice. Home pregnancy tests can help you be sure but when should you consider it? Only when you find the signs that indicate it.
1. The classic sign – Missed period
Many women have a regular cycle of menstruation. If you are one of them, see your doctor immediately after missing your period.
2. Feeling Nauseous in the morning?
Morning Sickness results from the second week of conceiving. Before jumping to conclusions, make sure that it is not due to stress, food poisoning or stomach disorders.
3. Your breasts feeling sore?
If you feel prickly, tingling sensation around your nipples, it is sign of starting lactation. The pregnancy hormones can increase the blood supply to the breasts even in the earliest part of pregnancy.
4. Do you feel too exhausted too early?
You start to feel unbearably exhausted and don’t know why that is happening. If there is no reason to believe that it is due to overexertion, stress, common cold, depression or any mental strain, your body is preparing for the baby’s arrival.
Headaches are a common occurrence during pregnancy, and it can start right after conception. There can be other causes of headaches too, but rise of oestrogen level after conceiving may well be the reason.
6. Are you craving for imli (tamarind)? Not really!
If Hindi movies are to be taken seriously, the only sign of pregnancy is the woman craving for imli or tamarind. Fact is that this craving for food after conceiving can be for any kind of food, such as dairy products, potato chips, pickles or any food that tempts you.
7. Do you visit the loo frequently?
After around 6 weeks of pregnancy, you might need to pee more frequently. Pregnancy hormones, increased blood supply and volume, and strenuously working kidney bring this about. If you get a burning sensation while peeing, it might be due to a urinary tract infection.
8. Are your nipples darker than before?
The round, dark area around your nipples, called the areola; tend to get darker after pregnancy. The obvious reason being start of lactation. The nipples also begin to feel more erect and the bumps around the nipples more pronounced.
9. Does your undergarment have a pink or brownish stain?
If you notice a pink or brownish stain in your undergarment when peeing, it is a tell tale sign of spotting, i.e. implantation of egg in the uterus. You might confuse this with your period, but it is actually the start of pregnancy.
10. How you can be sure.
If you have missed period and it is accompanied by nausea, tender breasts and fatigue, you can be quite sure that these are indeed, early pregnancy symptoms.
